Community-Wide Campaigns to Promote Healthy Eating

Community-wide campaigns are a promising strategy for improving healthy eating and related health outcomes. Community-wide campaigns use multiple intervention strategies within several settings in a community. This multi-sectoral approach distinguishes them from comprehensive nutrition programs that focus on a single setting. These campaigns most often include components that target individual-level behavior change as well as components targeting organizational and community levels to support positive behavior changes. Mass media, individual or group education, and policy/environmental changes are common strategies to increase healthy eating.
