  • We Can! Energize our Community: Toolkit for Action (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute)
    This toolkit was designed as part of the We Can! Initiative, a national childhood obesity prevention program targeting families and communities, and was designed for community planners. This resource includes planning tools, reproducible materials, tip sheets, and a copy of We Can! Energize Our Families: Curriculum for Parents and Caregivers.

  • Healthy Communities Toolkit (Michigan Department of Community Health)
    This nutrition and environmental assessment toolkit addresses policy, community design and planning, building coalitions, and working with the media. This extensive toolkit also includes resources, tools, templates, reproducible materials, and links to helpful websites. 

  • Healthy Women Build Healthy Communities Toolkit (Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness, United States Department of Health and Human Services)
    This toolkit is designed to help women plan, implement, and evaluate healthy eating and/or physical activity events in their communities. Topics include the 10 building blocks of planning a community activity, resources, and examples of community-wide initiatives.

  • Community Toolbox (Kansas University Workgroup on Health Promotion and Community Development)
    This web-based service is available to assist and support communities in the development of health-promoting campaigns. Based on 16 core areas, this collection of resources provides tips, tools, materials, examples, and online assistance.

  • The Healthy Communities Toolkit (Washington State Department of Health)
    This resource captures lessons learned from the cities of Moses Lake and Mount Vernon, where they engaged their communities to create environments that made it easier for residents to be physically active and choose healthy foods.
