    This nutrition publication has developmentally appropriate guidelines designed for use by health professionals. The information can also be adapted for use by families and communities. This resource provides resources, tools (such as growth charts), guidelines, web links, and information addressing screening, assessment, counseling, behavioral change theories, and special nutrition needs.

  • Nutrition Resources for Health Professionals (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
    This is CDC’s comprehensive nutrition site designed for health professionals interested in promoting healthy eating. The website provides reference documents, training and professional development information, data and surveillance resources, information and tools for program planning and evaluation, and ideas for nutrition promotion.

  • Administrators Handbook: Training and Implementation of Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness (BFWHW) Physical Activity and Healthy Eating Guides (Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness, United States Department of Health and Human Services)
    This online handbook describes the My Bright Future Physical Activity and Healthy Eating Guides and includes additional patient and health care provider materials for counseling on physical activity and healthy eating. The introductory website and Guides themselves provide health care provider education and training information, counseling support and assessment tools, materials for counseling, tips for both providers and patients, and additional resources.

    This collection of resources is designed to encourage regular physician communication and brief counseling sessions regarding physical activity, eating habits, and breastfeeding. It includes effective counseling characteristics, tools, and evidence-based references.
