Are Irwin Naturals Supplements Good?

Iriwin Naturals Use Marketing Tricks To Make You Think You're Getting Good Value.

With a wide range of products targeting various health concerns, including weight loss, muscle growth, and hydration, Irwin Naturals has caught the attention of many consumers due to it's  low price points. The fact is that Irwin Naturals are a budget option, and with that comes many of the issues you’d expect from a budget supplement manufacturer. And that is that despite including a lot of the most well backed ingredients, they often have them in doses far too low to be effective.

And what we often see with this tactic used by Irwin Naturals is that they regularly include one ingredient in its correct dose. Then proceed to fill the supplement with 5-10% of the effective dosage for the rest of the ingredients. Meaning that you simply won’t see any benefits beyond the one ingredient.

So, whilst Irwin Naturals may seem like a good value option, you ultimately aren’t getting enough of the ingredients for the claims that they promise. And you could ultimately save money on Irwin by just getting that singular effective ingredient.

There are a couple of exceptions to this rule and we'll come onto that in the Irwin Naturals product breakdown shortly.

The fact that they are relatively cheap does mean that they don’t get too many customer complaints as people simply chalk it up to buying the cheaper option. Which isn’t really going to say much good for the brand.

Or of course, spend what is usually around double, or $20 more, and get 5 to 6 time the effective ingredients for your money.

Ultimately there are too many Irwin Naturals products for us to cover every single one, but we’ll go through a big enough chunk that we hope you’ll get some idea about the issues with the companies’ products as a whole.

Irwin Naturals Product Line

Best-Selling Supplements: Popular and Top-Rated

Irwin Naturals offers a diverse range of best-selling supplements that address various health concerns. From heart health to cognitive function, there's something for everyone. Here are a few of their top-rated products:

Irwin Naturals Triple-Boost Caffeine-Free Energy

Triple-Boost Caffeine-Free Energy is designed to provide a natural energy boost without the jitters or crashes associated with caffeine. This formula combines botanical extracts and essential nutrients to support mental clarity, focus, and sustained energy throughout the day. Almost every ingredient in here is well below it’s effective dose range and ultimately you’re getting a b vitamin supplement with better marketing. On the other hand, at it’s price point you’d only save about $5 getting a standard b vitamin blend (which will boost energy for many people) [1], which is likely why most people don’t have any issues with the product as it would only take a small placebo effect for people to perceive the difference as worth it.

Irwin Naturals Steel-Libido

Steel-Libido is a popular choice on the male performance market. This powerful formula combines traditional botanicals and targeted nutrients to support sexual health and vitality. With ingredients like maca, ashwagandha, and horny goat weed, Steel-Libido does include the most well backed ingredients for this particular supplement niche, at least in the case of maca and ashwagandha, hgw has had less favorable results in recent years. [2,3,4] Unfortunately it is a case of you get what you pay for and most of the ingredients are far below their clinically proven doses. This is a common issue with Irwin Naturals supplements. And to make matters worse, across the multiple variations of Steel Libido by irwin naturals some of them even miss out on these ingredients, for examle Steel LIbido red doesn't even contain maca which is largely considered the best ingredient for this type of supplement, and those that do under dose it by up to 10 times.

Irwin Naturals Brain Awake

Brain Awake is one of Irwin Naturals top-rated supplements that claims to support mental clarity, focus, and memory. This formula contains a blend of herbs, amino acids, [5] and essential nutrients that work together to promote healthy brain function and overall cognitive performance. And whilst there’s a few things in here, it’s not a particularly good nootropic. And once again yes it’s cheap, but considering if you spend an extra $20, you get supplements that contain 10 times more ingredients for your money, and ones that are proven to be more effective we can’t recommend it, even at it’s budget price point.

Irwin Naturals Men's Living Green Liquid-Gel Multi

The Men's Living Green Liquid-Gel Multi has received positive feedback from customers for its high quality and comprehensive formulation. Customers appreciate the completeness of this multivitamin and have found it to be superior to other options in the market. This one we do agree with the customer base and it is a pretty decent multivitamin for it’s price point.

What we recommend instead – This one is fine actually

Irwin Naturals Testosterone UP

We actually covered this product in a full review, the long story short is that we don’t recommend it and it suffers from exactly the same issue that we outlined in the intro of this Irwin Naturals review. That is that it simply doesn’t contain high enough doses of the effective ingredients. Fenugreek get's a half dose [6] and ginseng comes it at around a 5th of what's recommended for testosterone levels. [7] Several of the other ingredients have long since been debunked and the formula of Irwin naturals Testosterone Up Red is in sore need of an update. Generally good testosterone boosters cost upwards of $45 a month, not $25, this is simply due to the cost of the ingredients.

What we recommend instead – Prime Male

Irwin Naturals Sleep

For some reason we have another product that contains a lot of Flaxseed oil, which despite omega 3’s links to sleep, is actually the wrong type of omega 3. Your body only uses DHA and EPA, flaxseed contains ALA which the body loses 90% of in conversion. Beyond that magnesium can help sleep, but needs to be dosed at 300mg, and Irwin Naturals contains only 100mg. 5htp and GABA are good inclusions, [8,9] but everything else is underdosed by a long way or has been proven to be ineffective. Considering that the best sleep aid on the market is only $20 more and contains all the effective ingredients in Irwin Naturals Sleep PM we can’t recommend this either, although it wouldn’t be a completely ineffective melatonin free sleep aid.

What we recommend instead – RestAgain

Irwin Naturals Joint Support 3 in 1

This actually is not bad for it’s price point, it contains a good amount of fish oil (which contains the right type of Omega 3, DHA/EPA) and a good amount of glucosamine and chondroitin to be within the effective ranges. [10,11] And even Boswellia makes an appearance, even if it is at the bottom end of the effective dose. [12] Seeing as buying these individually would likely cost slightly more than Irwin Naturals option this actually isn’t a bad deal. All of the other ingredients however, are under dosed or ineffective. For example, curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) needs to be dosed at around 500mg. [13] And considering that there’s only 40mg of turmeric in here, we’re nowhere near the effective range. You can get a lot more for your money if you’re willing to spend a bit more, but this is actually a pretty solid budget option.

Irwin Naturals Weight Loss Products

Irwin Naturals offers a very wide range of products targeting weight management and various health goals. That’s everything from thermogenic fat burners, appetite suppressants and carb blockers. And once again almost all of them fall into the standard trap of, not enough of the effective ingredients and a lot of fluff in there that doesn’t do anything.

Let's take a closer look at some of their weight management supplements:

  • Garcinia HCA Fat Reduction Diet: $16.99
  • Keto-Karma Burn Fat RED: $21.99
  • Carb Neutralizer Starch Blocker: $17.99
  • Maximum Strength 3-in-1 Carb Blocker: $31.99
  • Triple Diet Fat Reduction Max Accelerator: $19.99
  • Thermo-Burn Stubborn Fat Metabolizer: $19.99
  • Triple Shredder Body-Shaper: $21.99
  • Forskolin Fat-Loss Diet: $17.99
  • VO2 Max Performance Fat Burner: $24.99
  • Bloat-Away: $16.99

These are just a few examples of the weight management supplements available from Irwin Naturals. And unfortunately most of these are relatively ineffective. Take for example Thermo-Burn Stubborn Fat Metabolizer, this contains ingredients like ginger and turmeric, but in doses more than 10x too small to be within the effective dose of either, flaxseed oil which does nothing for weight loss, and in fact only contains one “thermogenic” ingredient within the effective dosage range in capsaicin. [14] So, whilst $20 may look appealing, the fact is you can get much better fat burners for $50 that contain 6-8 effective ingredients in their functional doses rather than just one.

There’s too much in here to make recommendations for each individual product but you can find links to our list of the best available Irwin Naturals alternatives below:

The Science Behind Irwin Naturals Claims

When it comes to evaluating the honesty of a supplement manufacturer like Irwin Naturals, it's crucial to look at the ingredients used and the scientific research supporting their health benefits. Irwin Naturals incorporates various ingredients into their products, and we will examine some of the key ones.

Caralluma: A Weight Loss Ingredient?

Caralluma is a commonly found ingredient in weight loss supplements. While some claim that it aids in weight loss, the scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness is lacking. A study published in Perspectives in Clinical Research suggests that Caralluma may not be as effective at improving weight loss as some proponents claim. [15]

Green Tea: A Potential Fat Burner?

Green tea is another popular ingredient in weight loss supplements, with claims of boosting fat metabolism. However, more research is needed to accurately replicate the findings. According to a study published in Advances in Nutrition, the combination of green tea's compounds, such as EGCG and caffeine, may have a small effect on weight loss and weight maintenance.

Yohimbe: Mixed Results for Weight Loss

Yohimbe is an ingredient that has shown mixed results in terms of weight loss. Some studies, like the one published in the Israel Journal of Medical Sciences, suggest that Yohimbe can significantly improve weight loss. However, other research, such as the study published in the Journal of Pharmacology, shows no effect on weight loss. Further research is needed to determine its true effectiveness. And ultimately more research seems to be coming out to debunk it's efficacy.

Maca: For Men’s Drive

Maca actually has a lot of backing for improving drive, and it’s actually shown to be as effective, if not more so for women. The problem is that if we look at the Irwin Naturals Steel Libido line, Red contains 0 Maca, the women’s version contains 264mg and the standard product contains 100mg, the catch is most studies show that you need more than a 1 gram for it to be fully effective, with an absolute minimum of 400mg, and that has to be a specific Maca extract. That’s more than 4X what’s in the women’s supplement and 10x the men’s. Other supplements that do cost more, generally get this dosing right, see Prime Male Enhance for an example. [2,17]

So What Do We Think About Irwin Naturals Claims?

All in all we’d say this isn’t really great for Irwin Naturals, we did analyze a lot more claims than the examples above and we found over 60% to be tenuous or none existent at best. And to make matters worse, they regularly make claims around ingredients without putting in nearly enough of the ingredient for it to be within it’s effective range. This is ultimately the problem that we keep coming across with Irwin Naturals products over and over again.

Irwin Naturals Pros And Cons

Pros:

  • Most of the ingredients used are well thought out and backed by research.
  • Their prices are generally lower compared to many competitors in the market.
  • Irwin Naturals offers a wide range of products. The company has received minimal consumer complaints.

Cons:

  • Most ingredients used are either ineffective or have sufficient amounts to produce desired results.
  • Some formulas may lack the necessary amounts of active ingredients based on research.
  • Irwin Naturals settled an out-of-court lawsuit filed by the Orange County District Attorney for unfair business practices.

Side Effects and Where to Buy

As with any supplement, it's essential to consider potential side effects. Irwin Naturals' supplements may contain stimulants, which can lead to side effects such as nausea, headache, loss of appetite, excess energy, difficulty falling asleep, and a shaky feeling. It's important to follow the recommended dosage and consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Irwin Naturals products can be purchased directly from their official website or major retailers like Walmart and Amazon. It's worth comparing prices on different platforms, as retailers may offer discounts or promotions as their products are often cheaper on Amazon than direct

Irwin Naturals Review Conclusion

Irwin Naturals is a supplement company that offers a wide range of products targeting various health concerns. And whilst there's a couple of hidden gems amongst their product line, the vast majority simply aren't worth the money even at the budget price point and rely on marketing trickery to make it seem like you're getting more for your money.

While some ingredients have scientific evidence supporting their benefits, others may require further research. But, that's not the main issue, the main issue is there chronic under dosing and yet still claiming to offer the health benefits of complete supplements.

The company has received minimal complaints, and their products are available through their official website and major retailers.
