Decreasing Screen Time and Other Sedentary Behaviors

Behavioral interventions to reduce screen time are effective in reducing sedentary behavior and improving weight-related outcomes. Reducing TV and screen time (computer and video game) is a strategy aimed primarily at decreasing sedentary behavior among children. Interventions designed around this strategy usually incorporate teaching goal setting, self-monitoring, social support, and time management techniques and also feature challenges to limit TV viewing and/or video game playing.
