OxyGreens Reviews

Is OxyGreens Any Good?

OxyGreens Tastes Great, But, It's Formula Doesn't Hold Up Against Better Competitors.

OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder is a greens supplement produced by EHPlabs. Made with a wide selection of wholefood prebiotic fibre, alkalizing antioxidants, and immunity wellness ingredients, they say it is a quick and easy way to support your fruit and vegetable intake while enjoying an amazing taste.

EHPlabs say its Green Superfood Complex can enhance immunity, vitality, gut health and bacteria levels, and digestive health and wellness, while reducing oxidative stress and bloating and assisting liver detoxification. Unfortunately, our OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder review found this is not true.

The OxyGreens ingredients include inulin, barley and wheat grass, larch, green bananas, kale, spinach, spirulina, celery, kiwi, acai and goji fruit extracts, chlorella, blueberries, broccoli seeds, and kelp laminaria, as well as a variety of non-wellness ingredients.

Admittedly, a number of these ingredients are indeed very effective. However, while a proprietary blend hides their dosages, we can clearly see that most are present in quantities too small to be of any use. They are then surrounded by other ingredients that have little to no proof they do anything at all.

The sheer quantity of non-active ingredients is also quite alarming, especially given how high up the ingredients list they are, as they take up space that should be reserved for the useful compounds.

Having a reasonable price tag, what users call a great taste, and coming in a choice of Forest Berries, Strawberry Margarita, and Pineapple natural flavors are all admittedly popular selling points. However, they are not enough to save what is an otherwise ineffective product.

What Does OxyGreens Taste Like?

OxyGreens is one of the better tasting greens powders on the market, with the pineapple and forest berries being good examples of how to flavor a greens product well. It's not overdone, it's not too sacherine, and of course you can taste some of the greens coming through, but this is definitely a highlight of OxyGreens.

Unfortunately as we said in the intro, it's not enough to make this a good green product overall.

Best Super Greens

OxyGreens Ingredients

Inulin - Inulin is a soluble, prebiotic fiber that will improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and your overall gut health. It can also help you lose weight, boost your energy levels, reduce inflammation, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, and treat constipation (1). However, you are required to consume at least 10 grams of inulin per day to see all these benefits. While OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder does not state how much of each ingredient is present in a scoop, the fact that a serving weighs just 7.7 grams means a useful dose cannot possibly be present.

Organic Barley Grass -
Barley grass is full of essential nutrients and can provide a variety of health benefits, such as improved health, faster weight loss, and better blood sugar and cholesterol levels (2). The issue is, 1,000 mg per day is the bare minimum required for it to do you any good. While it is possible that OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder contains this amount, the proprietary blend makes it impossible to know for sure and the number of ingredients in it makes it very unlikely.

Organic Wheat Grass -
Wheat grass is rich in nutrients like antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, while being very low in calories. There have been claims made that it has the ability to reduce cholesterol, inflammation, the risk of heart disease, oxidative stress and damage, and arthritis symptoms, at the same time as aiding weight loss. Unfortunately, none of these claims have ever been conclusively proven. This means its inclusion in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder is not guaranteed to benefit your health in any way (3).

Larch (Arabinogalactan) -
Larch arabinogalactans are thought to be probiotics and some studies have suggested that consuming them will support your gut microbiota and promote a healthy immune system. However, as said studies are still in their early stages, there are no conclusive results that they actually do anything for the human body at all (4). This means there is a very good chance that their presence in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder will do absolutely nothing.

Green Banana - Green bananas are full of potassium, dietary fibre, and resistant starches, and they have the ability to support healthy digestion, boost metabolism and weight loss, reduce your appetite and blood sugar levels, prevent gastrointestinal issues, and promote a generally healthy gut. The problem is, research suggests that 200 mg of powdered green banana per kg of body weight is required each day to produce these results (5). This means even with no weights listed, we can still see that it is all but impossible for a serving of OxyGreens Super Greens Powder to contain a useful amount.

Organic Kale
- Kale is rich in minerals, phytochemicals, and vitamins which have the ability to reduce your cholesterol level and risk of heart disease, provided you consume a minimum of 5 grams per day (6). As we saw before though, its position in a Green Superfood Complex that weighs just 7.7 grams in its entirety means a serving of OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder simply can't contain enough kale to be of any use.

Organic Spinach - Spinach has a high fibre, protein, mineral, and vitamin content that is capable of improving vision, blood pressure levels, and eye, heart, and immune health, and reducing oxidative stress and damage, anxiety, mental stress, and the risk of heart disease (7). As 1,000 mg of spinach is required each day to produce these effects, it is technically possible that OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder contains this amount. However, the weight of the blend, its position in it, and the number of ingredients that come after it make it highly unlikely.

Organic Spirulina - Spirulina is a blue green algae full of protein, antioxidants, fatty acids, minerals, and vitamins. It can aid weight loss, boost your body composition and metabolism, fight free radicals, prevent oxidative stress and damage, reduce inflammation, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and keep your heart healthy. Unfortunately, at least 2,000 mg of spirulina is required each day to do you any good. Given its place in a blend that weighs 7.7 grams in total, we can clearly see that OxyGreens Daily Super Greens does not contain this amount (8).

Celery - Celery contains nitrates, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories that are admittedly beneficial to the human body. The issue is, it has only ever been proven to be of use when you consume large amounts of fresh celery (9). This means the powdered celery found in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens is highly unlikely to be capable of replicating these effects.

Kiwi Fruit - The Kiwi fruit is full of electrolytes, fibre, magnesium, vitamin c, and many other essential nutrients. It can help enhance immunity, mood, brain functions, and heart health, reduce water retention, and promote healthy digestive function (10). There is currently no universally accepted ideal dose of kiwi fruit powder, but most studies have it somewhere between 500 to 600 mg per day. This means it is possible that OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder contains enough, but the lack of any dosages makes it impossible to know for sure.

Organic Acai - Acai berries contain a type of antioxidant called anthocyanins, which are claimed to promote optimal digestion, intestinal functions, and heart health. However, besides having a small benefit on the heart, none of the other benefits of acai berries have ever actually been proven (11). This means that not only will acai berries only be of mild use in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder, but they will not improve digestion like the supplement aims to, while the small dose that is likely present will probably not do you any good at all.

Organic Goji Fruit Extract - Goji berries contain antioxidants, fibre, iron, vitamin a, and vitamin c, and are capable of aiding weight loss, improving physical performance and fatty acid metabolism, and promoting a healthy immune system. Unfortunately, it has been proven that the heat used to create goji fruit extracts damages it. This means it is much less effective than fresh goji fruit and will likely add little to no benefits to OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder (12).

Organic Chlorella - Chlorella is a chlorophyte green algae that contains antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. It can boost energy production without causing blood sugar spikes, reduce your cholesterol and blood sugar levels, provide liver detoxification, combat free radicals, diseases, and illnesses, and boost your overall health. As no optimal dose of chlorella has been set, it is possible OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder contains a suitable amount. However, as it is right at the bottom of a long ingredients list and entire servings aren't that large, it is still very unlikely that enough is present to do you any good (13).

Blueberry - Blueberries contain anthocyanin antioxidants that boost brain functions and heart and liver health, prevent liver fat build up and mental decline, and reduce inflammation. However, you need to consume at least 5.5 grams of blueberries or blueberry extract to produce these effects (14). Given the weight of a serving of OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder and the place of blueberries in it, even hiding the dosages can't stop us from seeing that an insufficient amount has clearly been used.

Broccoli Seed Extract - Broccoli is a common ingredient in greens powders, as the vegetable is well known to be rich in vitamin e and able to boost your nutrient intake, reduce your cholesterol levels, and benefit your body in a variety of other ways. The problem is, broccoli seed extract has never been proven to replicate the effects of fresh broccoli, so its presence in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens powder likely does nothing but take up space (15).

Kelp Laminaria - Kelp laminaria is a seaweed that is being investigated due to claims that it can enhance immunity and prevent carbohydrates from being absorbed as easily, which would prevent weight gain and aid weight loss. The problem is, these studies are still in their early stages and no conclusive results have been produced, so it is just as likely that the presence of kelp laminaria in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder does nothing at all (16).

Other Ingredients - The other ingredients present in OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder are natural flavors, citric acid, sucralose, vegetable gum acacia, silicon dioxide, potassium chloride, and calcium silicate. None of them are there to offer any health benefits, rather they are used to boost the taste and texture of the product.

While they are all quite common in supplements, some of their spots on the ingredients list is worrying, especially as we don't know the exact dosages of everything present, as it appears a lot of space has been wasted on ingredients to give it an "incredible taste", rather than those that affect your health.

OxyGreens Review Conclusion

OxyGreens Daily Super Greens Powder claims to be a unique green powder supplement but, in reality, it is no different to any other low quality greens powders. From low dosages and unproven ingredients to proprietary blends, it simply fails to deliver in every area, which is why we recommend against buying it.

Ultiamtely if you're looking for something around the same price point we generally recommend Live It Up Greens, it doesn't taste quite as good, atlhough there's not much in it, and it's doses of ingredients are far better than OxyGreens. It sticks to the more effective, and ultimately more expensive ingredients in Oxy, like spirulina and kale, meaning you get them in their most beneficial ranges. Without bulking up the product with the cheaper, but ultimately less effective and nutritious inulin and grasses.

There are far better premium options available as well, but they are a bit more pricey.
