Bloom Greens Reviews

Is Bloom Greens Good For You?

Bloom greens & superfoods is cheap, but not great.

Bloom Nutrition Greens and Superfoods is a greens supplement designed to boost gut health, digestion, immunity, and natural energy levels, and prevent bloating. Unfortunately, closer inspection shows it isn't quite the miracle greens powder Bloom Supplements suggest.

The Bloom Nutrition Greens ingredients are split into seven blends, each with its own goal. Most of the blends actually contain useful, proven ingredients, but there are two major issues.

Despite the fact Bloom Nutrition have used proprietary blends to try and mask the ingredient quantities, we can still see there isn't enough present of any to be of use. They're then lumped in with unproven ingredients that dilute the quantity of the useful ones even more.

Some of these unproven ingredients are even linked to side effects too.

A low price, choice of five flavours, and being free from most major allergens will draw many people in. Don't be fooled though, as it's an ineffective product that'll do nothing but waste your money.

Rather than buy Bloom Nutrition Greens + Superfoods, we'd suggest you look at other greens powders like Supergreen Tonik instead. Using only optimal doses of proven ingredients, it actually delivers all the benefits the Bloom product promises, without any of the drawbacks.

Bloom Greens Review FAQ

We answer some of the most commonly asked questions in Bloom Greens & Superfoods Reviews.

How Does Bloom Greens Taste?

A bit artificial, but not bad as greens powders go. The flavors are quite strong and overall it's not too earthy like some greens can be, so if you don't mind the slightly artificial taste and don't like the standard greens powder taste then Bloom could be a good choice. The coconut is particularly strong, although the berry is probably the best choice for most peoples tastes.

Bloom Greens & Superfoods Ingredients

Fiber Blend - 1,606 MG

The Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods Fiber Blend consists of chicory root fructo-oligosaccharides, organic flax seed powder, and apple fruit powder.

Chicory root fructo-oligosaccharides are rich in a prebiotic called inulin, which is beneficial for digestive health. It improves nutrient absorption, eases constipation, and lowers blood sugar levels to enhance your gut health, while also reducing cholesterol and inflammation (1).

Flax seeds contain a substance called alpha linoleic acid, which regulates blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol, and combats diabetes and metabolic syndrome (2).

Unfortunately, you must consume at least 2 grams of inulin and 15 grams of flax seeds daily for them to be useful, which is more than the entire Greens and Superfoods Fiber Blend.

Apple fruit powder may contain vitamin c but is largely considered to be useless, so does nothing but take up space in the blend and make it even less effective.

Green Superfood Blend - 1,367 MG

The Green Superfood Blend in Bloom Nutrition Greens + Superfoods powder contains organic barley grass powder, organic spirulina powder, organic wheat grass powder, organic alfalfa leaf powder, and organic chlorella powder.

Barley grass is rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, and can offer health benefits like better heart health, improved fat loss, and lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels when at least 6 grams is consumed daily (3).

Spirulina is a natural cyanobacteria full of antioxidants, fatty acids, minerals, protein, and vitamins. It can help fight free radicals and prevent oxidative damage, lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and improve heart health when taking at least 1 gram daily (4).

Chlorella is a chlorophyte green algae abundant in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It can boost energy levels better than sugar, regulate your blood sugar and cholesterol levels, fight diseases and illnesses, detoxify the body, and improve your overall health and wellbeing if you take at least 6 grams daily (5).

The problem is, these ingredients are all heavily under dosed, as you're only getting roughly 10% of what's required, meaning they're unlikely to be effective.

They're then lumped in with alfalfa leaf and wheat grass, both of which have not been proven to be beneficial and likely just take up space and further dilute the effective ingredients.

Pre & Probiotic Blend - 648 MG

The Bloom Nutrition Greens + Superfoods Pre & Probiotic Blend is made of blue agave inulin, Bifidobacterium bifidum, lactobacillus rhamnosus, and lactobacillus acidophilus.

While we've already looked at inulin, the three new ingredients are bacteria that can boost gut health and digestion, lower blood pressure levels, combat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and even improve brain function in the elderly (6).

The issue is, pre and probiotics are measured in CFU (colony forming units), not mg. This means we have no idea if enough is present to be useful. The range of bacteria present is also smaller and less varied than top probiotic dietary supplements too.

Fruit & Vegetable Blend - 572 MG

The Fruit & Vegetable Blend in Bloom Nutrition Greens + Superfoods features organic carrot root powder, beet root powder, kale leaf powder, blueberry fruit powder, spinach leaf powder, broccoli head powder, and ginger root extract.

Kale and spinach powders come from similar leafy greens that are rich in fibre, minerals, and vitamins. They offer health benefits like better vision, reduced blood pressure, cholesterol, stress, and anxiety, as well as protection from oxidative damage and heart disease (7).

Blueberry powder is rich in antioxidants and anthocyanins that boost heart and brain health, nerve growth, and cognitive functions, prevent mental decline, inflammation, and liver fat build up, and protect the liver (8).

Beetroot powder contains vitamins and minerals that reduce inflammation, blood pressure, and cholesterol, boost eye, heart, and immune health, increase energy and stamina, protect your blood, liver, and various other organs, and prevent certain illnesses (9).

Ginger extract boasts antioxidants and inti-inflammatories that prevent oxidative damage to the joints, reduce cholesterol, enhance the immune system, and digestive health, and boost the bioavailability of the other ingredients (10).

As with everything in Bloom Greens and Superfoods though, their doses are far too low to be useful. The blend is then rounded off with useless broccoli and carrot powders, which do nothing but take up space.

Antioxidant Beauty Blend - 550 MG

The Bloom Nutrition Greens + Superfoods Antioxidant Beauty Blend is created with cranberry fruit powder, strawberry fruit powder, raspberry fruit powder, elderberry, sour cherry fruit extract, acai berry, goji berry, horseradish tea leaf, grape seed extract, and matcha green tea leaf.

The berries and cherries are all rich in vitamin c, minerals, and antioxidants. They can help improve bone, brain, eye, heart, skin, and gut health, reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and inflammation, and boost stamina, immunity, weight loss, and energy levels (11).

Horseradish tea and matcha green tea leaves and grape seed extract are all antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.

They can detoxify the body, neutralise free radicals, protect you from harmful chemicals and diseases, burn fat and calories, boost energy levels, circulation, and brain and heart health, and reduce inflammation and oestrogen production (12)(13)(14).

Unfortunately, while all the ingredients in the Antioxidant Beauty Blend are useful, there's lots of them and the blend is quite small. This means there's no way they're all present in useful doses, and it's highly likely none of them are.

Digestive Enzyme Blend - 150 MG

The Digestive Enzyme Blend in the Bloom Nutrition Greens and Superfoods supplement uses the digestive enzymes amylase, amyloglucasidase, protease, acid protease, cellulase, and lipase, as well as maltodextrin.

Digestive enzymes help clear the digestive tract, and improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall gut health (15). Unfortunately, the blend is missing 3 of the main digestive enzymes (lactase, maltase, and sucrase), so won't be very effective.

It also contains maltodextrin, an artificial sweetener that spikes your blood sugar (16). This not only poses health risks but also dilutes already low doses of digestive enzymes even more.

Adaptogenic Blend - 100 MG

The Adaptogenic Blend in Bloom Nutrition Greens and Superfoods uses the adaptogenic herbs licorice root extract, rhodiola root powder, American ginseng root powder, ashwagandha root powder, astragalus root powder, and eleuthero root powder.

Licorice may improve digestion but also lowers testosterone and raises cortisol levels, so it does more harm than good (17). Rhodiola powder possibly slightly reduces stress and fatigue, but its other claimed benefits are unproven (18).

Ginseng and ashwagandha can boost testosterone levels, male sexual functions, fertility, sleep, immunity, physical performance, brain functions, mental clarity, and mood, and aid issues like diabetes, fibromyalgia, stress, high blood sugar, anxiety, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Daily doses of at least 250 mg of each are needed for this though, which is far more than the blend can contain (19)(20).

Astragalus is an anti-inflammatory that boosts testosterone, immunity, and heart and liver health while lowering cholesterol when taking 30 mg daily (21). Eleuthero root improves physical performance and reduces fatigue when using daily doses of at least 300 mg (22).

This means the quantities used of both are far too small to be useful.

Stevia Leaf Extract - 95 MG

Stevia is a natural, low calorie sweetener that also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties, which can protect the brain, kidneys, liver, and pancreas. Unfortunately, it can also be toxic and cause issues like infertility and certain diseases (23).
